Shoushan (壽山) is the 356-metre hill of limestone and old coral reef that rises behind the harbor, now Shoushan National Nature Park (壽山國家自然公園). It's home to wild Formosan macaques, and you'll meet them on the trails. Look, but don't feed them: it's banned, and the fines are real. On the hillside is Shoushan Zoo, a small city zoo that costs NT$40.
The nature park and the monkeys
The Shoushan National Nature Park is open every day. The macaques are wild. Inside the park, feeding them can earn you a NT$3,000 fine. Keep food out of sight and plastic bags closed.
